WAREM Excursion continues in Germany.

Freiburg, Germany,
14 June, 2014.

Day six.

Freiburg (GE) - Sasbach (GE) - Taubergießen (GE-FR) - Stuttgart (GE)

Finally we had more leisure time as compared to the previous days! We were guided by a tourist guide and walk around the scenic Freiburg im Breisgau, a city in Baden-Württemberg, with a lot explanations about the history of the town.

The Bächle, once used to provide water to fight fires and feed livestock, are constantly flowing with water diverted from the Dreisam. They were never intended to be used for sewage, and even in the Middle Ages such use could lead to harsh penalties.

It is said that if one accidentally falls or steps into a Bächle, they will marry a Freiburger, or 'Bobbele'. If I purposely fall into it, will it be the same? If yes, I'll jump hahaa.

After the tour, we were given an hour to have a walk by ourselves before headed to the next destination. And we walk across the market and had doner box after so many days eat without meat. Finally!

Related to my presentation on the bus that day, we headed to Sasbach, about an hour from Freiburg to visit Rhine River with its 19th century river engineering history, and Jochen explained furthermore about the corrections on Rhine River by the engineer, Tulla.

Later, we were split into a few groups and each group had a native speaker, to be our translator of  explanation during boat ride at floodplain forest, Nature Reserve Taubergießen. Back to nature, oh yeahh!

Rare plants, phreatic springs and ancient woodland: the Taubergießen nature reserve is France's second-largest sanctuary for species of hibernating birds. The reserve covers a total area of 1,682 hectares, of which 997 belong to the French village of Rhinau.

So after an hour boat ride, we walked back to the bus and had 2 hours journey back to Stuttgart. We arrived at 6.30 p.m., and yea, that was the end of the excursion. Though we were all exhausted with super pack schedules prepared by WAREM, I believe we've enjoyed the trip so much. I had great fun with old friends and get closed with new friends that I never have a chance to talk to, or even ever met before. I wish we could have another trip, but just a fun trip, without site visits hehee.

But, it was not really the end of my trips, actually. I have to catch ICE train at 5.51 a.m. the next day to Frankfurt, to meet my brother and SIL at the airport, and we are going have a road trip around Germany yeayyy!

And I'm officially sunburned since the first day. At critical stage, macam anak keling. Sia-sia pertapaan di musim winter hari tu. This is also the reason why I didn't take many photos of myself during the trips.

P.s. credit photos to Malena, Farah, Jie Mao and me hehee

with love,
